I made it! 

Had to scratch my previous idea after reading a bloody lot more in the forums =) 
The issue was that I simply had forgotten that I needed to first initialise and then formate the entire thing to NTFS! Majour D'OH! How could I have forgotten that? I've no idea...but! Now it works like a charm! Moved over my photos from my C harddrive to this one, and will soon deal with my movies...YAY!
